Gilbert Briggs, who founded Wharfedale in 1932, built the company into one of the most famous speaker brands in the world by focusing on quality and value for money.

The Denton of Wharfedale exemplified both of these edicts, balancing fine craftsmanship, natural sound quality, and affordability within a compact speaker that was bought by the millions around the world. The original Denton spawned other models based on its popular formula, with the Denton 3 being the last in the line ... ... until now!

The Denton 85th Anniversary is a two-way loudspeaker in the classic bookshelf tradition, beautifully hand-veneered in mahogany by Wharfedale cabinetmakers, with an inserted front baffle and traditional tungsten cloth grille.

However, under the traditional exterior, the Denton 85th Anniversary is totally updated and uses a mix of traditional and advanced technology. The bass unit features Wharfedale's innovative woven Kevlar cone mounted on a rigid die-cast chassis, this combination provides rich and detailed bass / mid output with excellent dynamic performance. High frequencies are handled by a high flux ferrite magnet textile soft dome treble unit designed for smooth and detailed HF extension.

These drive units are combined with a highly researched crossover that is nearly inaudible to the listener, resulting in a seamless and coherent musical output that is both exciting and natural in its performance of any source material.

The original Denton was well known for its warm, rich and natural sounding character, and the 85th Anniversary Edition retains that character but imbues it with an open and detailed performance that will prompt you to explore your entire music collection.
