In the six years since the introduction of the latest NAIT integrated amplifiers, our research and development team has been busy implementing a number of improvements to these amplifiers.

The result is an improved power amplifier section for the NAIT XS 3, which offers greater speed and intimacy in music playback, whether through a pair of speakers or your favourite headphones.

The NAIT XS 3 has undergone significant performance improvements, including the addition of a built-in phono stage, making it an ideal companion for turntables, as well as tuners, CD players or any other music source you wish to enjoy with the distinctive Naim sound.

The NAIT XS 3 offers many of the features of our reference standard SUPERNAIT 3 in a more compact, simpler package that combines a 70W power amplifier with five analogue inputs plus a phono stage. Its high-performance preamp stage is as transparent as you'd expect from a Naim Audio amplifier, and it also shares the Class A headphone output of its big brother.

The NAIT XS 3 is fully upgradable with our external power supplies, power amps and even cabling upgrades for maximum performance from all audio sources.

Our R&D team has succeeded in doubling the speed of the voltage gain stage, which in turn doubles the response speed of the speaker output stage.

The transistors in the second gain stage have been optimised, eliminating the need for a cascode transistor to protect them. This reduces the need for amplifier stabilisation, doubling the speed of response and further improving sound quality.

The phono circuit topology consists of three stages: gain stage, passive equalisation and final gain and active equalisation. This provides excellent noise performance, extended RIAA equalisation beyond the audio range and a wide overload margin.

All RIAA equalisation capacitors are of through-hole mounted film design, minimising noise pick-up and providing excellent transient performance. Since the phono stages are 1000 times more sensitive than other inputs, this significantly improves sound quality.

The input impedance is 47kΩ in parallel with a capacitive load of 470F, making it ideal for 5mV moving magnet cartridges.
