What is the arm of a record player?

The turntable arm is the element in charge of supporting the pick-up capsule, without its parts producing any noise, while allowing the needle to move across the record, up and down, with virtually no friction.

The arms can be straight or curved.

What is the function of a turntable arm?

As the stylus vibrates, vibration is transmitted to the cartridge to some extent, which will be determined by the quality of its own rubber suspension. These vibrations are induced by the changing magnetic fields created by the vibrations of the cartridge. The arm must absorb these vibrations without reflecting them back to the capsule (i.e. resonating). This makes the choice of materials from which the turntable arm is constructed crucial.

Frequently asked questions:

Do I need a special amplifier to use a turntable arm?

No, you can connect the output of the turntable to any amplifier or receiver with a standard phono input. If your amplifier does not have a phono input, you can use an external phono pre-amp to adjust the signal and connect it to a line input.

How can I maintain and care for my turntable?

It is important to follow a few tips to properly maintain and care for your turntable:

Regularly clean the stylus with a specialised brush to prevent the build-up of dust and dirt that can affect the sound quality.

Keep the arm balanced and adjust the counterweight according to the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure accurate stylus tracking.

Use a protective cover to cover the tonearm when not in use to prevent dust accumulation and possible damage.

Avoid touching the stylus with your fingers, as grease and debris can affect playback and cause damage to the stylus and vinyl.

Can I use different types of cartridges with my turntable?

Yes, our turntable arms are compatible with a wide range of phono cartridges, including moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges. This gives you the flexibility to choose different types and brands of cartridges according to your personal preferences and sound requirements.
