AUDIOQUEST Forest Digital Coax

AudioQuest digital coaxial cables are designed to minimize distortion over extremely wide bandwidth. For many applications, the speed of digital communication is important. Most notably, "speed" is about transferring large files as fast as possible, or transporting enough data for high-definition video. For Digital Coax, the "speed" of audio is not critical, but rather because the time relationships within a digital stream are critical to reconstructing the analog waveform that brings information, music and joy to our ears. Time-based damage (jitter) to this information within the data pack makes the sound small and flat rather than 3D, harsh and hazy rather than soft and clear.

SOLID CONDUCTORS 0.5% SILVER: Solid conductors eliminate distortion from wire interaction and reduce jitter. Silver conductors are excellent for very high frequency applications. These signals, which are a very high frequency, travel almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor. As the surface is made of high-purity silver, the performance is very close to that of a solid silver wire, but the price much closer to that of solid copper wire. This is an incredibly cost effective way to make very high quality digital coaxial cables.

HARD CELL FOAM INSULATION: Hard cell foam insulation is used exclusively on most AudioQuest audio and video cables. Like PE-foam, nitrogen is injected to create pockets of air. Hard foam is used because the stiffness of the material allows the cable conductors to maintain the same relationship to each other throughout the entire length of the cable, thus ensuring that the characteristic impedance of the cable is consistent.

100% PROTECTION WITH PROTECTIVE LAYER (FOIL + TINNED BRAID): Shielding always plays an important role in any cable design, but shielding in coaxial interconnection plays an especially important role because it works not only as a shield, but also as a path. return. Because of this, AudioQuest pays particular attention to the quality of the shield metal and manufacturing techniques as both will affect the sound and the picture.

METALLIC NOISE DISSIPATION SYSTEM (NDS) - 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing RF interference captured from equipment ground reference modulation requires AQ's noise-dissipation system. The Noise Dissipation System prevents a significant amount of RFI from reaching the equipment ground plane.
