The Falcon Acoustics Classic 15 ohm LS3/5a, fully licensed by the BBC and hand-assembled by Falcon in Oxford, England. It is the only LS3/5a in production that faithfully replicates the original BBC design published in October 1976.
The result of almost 2 years of development, the Falcon LS3/5a is a true classic LS3/5a 15 ohm made in Britain. It continues the long tradition of authentic BBC licensed British LS3/5a dating back to the 1960s.
The drive units are the renowned Falcon B110 and the Falcon T27 tweeter, both designed by Malcolm Jones, the original designer of the KEF B110 and the KEF T27 which were specified in the original 15 ohm LS3/5a version designed by the BBC. Both drive units are hand built in the UK to ensure the highest quality, grading and consistency and are identical to the original LS3/5a drive units. They are exclusive to Falcon.
Matching BBC specification FL6/23 15 ohm filter nets are manufactured exclusively by Falcon in the original transformer style to the BBC specification and contain inductors specially made in Britain for Falcon to the original specification.
Cabinets are handcrafted from specially selected grade Baltic Ply and use selected grade beech fillets. They are made in Britain to BBC specifications and are available in a variety of natural wood veneers (see images of current veneers below) with a Tygan cloth front grille.
The Falcon Acoustics LS3/5a are sold in matched pairs only and are supplied with an instruction manual, individually numbered Certificate of Authenticity and come with a 5 year warranty.
