Kanta N°2 represents the latest addition to Focal's Home Audio collection. By integrating numerous patented acoustic innovations with recent research techniques, Focal has created a compact 3-way floorstanding speaker that combines the brand's globally recognized exceptional performance with a renewed industrial design, seamlessly integrated into any environment.

Kanta is meticulously designed to achieve maximum performance. For the first time, the company has developed a speaker that combines its "Flax" cone speaker system with its acclaimed beryllium tweeter. Housed in a completely new cabinet featuring a smoother design approach, Kanta is crafted for music enthusiasts seeking a speaker that delivers Focal's exceptional performance in a compact format. Every detail, from the density and rigidity of materials used in the front panel and casing to the smooth edges on the baffle and the dual-port design, is dedicated to acoustic performance.

THE UNIQUE COMBINATION OF BERYLLIUM AND FLAX

High frequencies are reproduced by a new pure beryllium tweeter specially designed for Kanta. The IAL 3 tweeter combines the principles of the IAL (Infinite Acoustic Loading) and IHL (Infinite Horn Loading) tweeters developed for the Utopia range, Focal's flagship. Designed to improve sound wave absorption and reduce the tweeter's resonance frequency, the IAL 3 offers unprecedented performance, making it acoustically invisible.

Focal's handmade Flax cone, with its patented design, has already proven its effectiveness in various leading company designs. By sandwiching the flax fiber between two thin layers of fiberglass, the Flax cone drivers provide high internal damping, high sound speed, and high bending rigidity. This unique cone driver design is characterized by natural sound, low coloration, rich reproduction in the midrange, and deeper bass in low-frequency functions.

The 16.5 cm (6.5") midrange driver incorporates Focal's classic technology, the TMD (Tuned Mass Damper) Suspension. All Kanta speakers are equipped with NIC (Neutral Inductance Circuit) motors, which stabilize the magnetic field to provide perfect definition and better-controlled bass through the two 6.5" (16.5 cm) drivers.

This unique combination of flax and beryllium offers an incredibly natural musical interpretation.

HIGH-DENSITY POLYMER

In terms of innovation, limitations drive technology. To meet the criteria for a compact design, Focal engineers developed a new material for the baffle, maintaining high rigidity levels and being favorable to acoustic conditions. They discovered and developed a monoblock high-density polymer (HDP), a material capable of offering significantly superior performance compared to MDF, being 70% denser, 15% more rigid, and with 25% more damping. The monoblock baffle, attached to the internally reinforced rear casing and built with molded multi-ply plywood, offers greater rigidity.

EXCELLENCE IN DETAILS

Following the tradition of Focal's high-end designs, Kanta incorporates the "Focus Time" driver alignment technology, placing the drivers so that all sound waves reach the listener's ears simultaneously. Focal's 'Power Port' technology is also used, with a port on the front and another on the back of each speaker, extending the bass response and limiting dynamic compression.

To ensure perfect coupling with the floor, the Zamac base, including adjustable spikes, provides greater overall stability. Final details include an elegant glass plate on the top of the speaker and magnetic beret-type grilles. Removing them reveals the flax cones of the speakers, providing the finishing touch that gives Kanta its unique style.

Kanta upholds Focal's core values in every aspect. Flax cones, speakers, and final assembly are handmade at Focal's manufacturing facility in Saint-Etienne, along with all other Focal Home Audio products, including the Utopia, Sopra, Electra, Aria, and Chorus lines.
