Advanced transducer systems

The Wharfedale premise in the Diamond range transducers is performance orientation. For this reason, the Diamond 11 series incorporates advanced transducer systems made up of elements traditionally found exclusively in high-end loudspeakers.

Cross integration

Wharfedale uses a highly evolved virtual crossover software system to help create a series of circuit options that seamlessly blend bass / mid and treble units. These circuit options are evaluated through rigorous listening tests over a period of months, with a wide range of music.

Once the final circuit strategy is chosen, the design team adjusts the crossover component values, component type, and circuit board layout to obtain the most accurate, detailed, and above all, quality musical performance.

Enclosure construction

Wharfedale views the speaker cabinet as a design piece that adds distinction and differentiation. For the Diamante 11 Series, the "multilayer sandwich" system of woods of different density has been redefined, providing easily identifiable acoustics. The reinforcement of the different panels and their curvature are optimized to obtain resonances reduced by more than 25dB below the transducer outputs. In addition, the walls of the are lined with an internal fiber specially selected for its excellent absorbent qualities.

Slotted distributed port

The slotted distributed port is a recent Diamond innovation, first introduced on the Diamond 100 series in 2012, where the internal port tube opens into a slot formed between the enclosure and the socket. This reduces turbulence and audible "chuffing" suffered by conventional systems. An added benefit is the greater efficiency in transferring energy from the bass setting to the room.

On the Diamond 11 Series, both ends of the port are profiled with a semi-parabolic inlet and outlet curve that creates a linear airflow through the port tube. This allowed to increase the volume of air in the slotted system and further improve the performance of the low frequency output.
