A perfect example of the fusion of past and present, the SA700 is a portable “Hi-Res” audio player whose intentionally “retro” aesthetic conceived to honor the brand's first model, the celebrated AK120, hides technological solutions as significant as the use , for the first time in a product of its class, of a pair of AK4492ECB D / A converters from the Japanese firm AKM, a sophisticated component that can be considered as a low consumption version of the reputed AK4497EQ and therefore more suitable for portable use . In combination with a quad-core processor, the new Asterll & Kern is able to reproduce the most demanding digital audio encodings with unprecedented precision, specifically PCM up to 32-bit / 384 kHz and native DSD up to DSD256, to which is added the support for the interesting MQA. Regarding its external appearance, the SA700 builds on the celebrated aesthetics of the AK120, incorporating an elegant and versatile volume control wheel that allows the user to experience the evolution of the unmistakable Astell & Kern analog design. Inspired by the suspension bridges, the protective flanges and the LED lighting around the aforementioned wheel combine to create a classic and full of life experience. But there is more, because the purpose of said LED goes beyond providing a simple visual effect, since it serves as an intuitive indicator of information about the musical theme that is being played and the corresponding volume level.
