The development of the A8000 began with the reconstruction of the physical measurements and subjective evaluation methodologies. Under the subjective evaluation methodology established at the time of the D8000's development, the E Series achieved sound quality highly evaluated by many people and became a best seller. With the A8000, a new evaluation index has been incorporated into this subjective evaluation methodology. Among the factors that determine the sound quality of headphones and earphones, the frequency and amplitude response predominates, but there are some sound impressions that cannot be explained by this. For example, the most critically evaluated aspect of classical music recordings is called transparent sound, a sonic impression whereby the sound is very clear even if it is located in a distant location. We have considered that the realization of this sound impression is extremely important to lift yourself up when listening to music. We believe that the high evaluation of our D8000 headphones is due to the realization of such transparent sound. Until now, we have used modifying the amplitude-frequency response, known as tuning, to modify the sound of our headphones, but because it cannot make a big change in temporal response, it became difficult to achieve a transparent sound through through tuning. This time, with the goal of achieving transparent sound for headphones, final has developed its own Perceptual Transparency Measurement (PTM) evaluation methodology. As a result of the evaluation and improvement of the interrelationships between the main components analyzed by the subjective evaluation results and the analysis of the impulse response data that could not be deduced from the frequency response in the past, it has been adopted for the A8000 an ideal diaphragm material that is extremely light and has a high speed of sound composed of an ultra-thin beryllium foil (truly pure beryllium diaphragm).
