Description
The TD 550 is based on the construction of the TD 350, equipped with a suspended chassis and belt drive around the outer edge of the platter. The generous dimensions of the player allow the assembly of 12-inch arms. The arm platform is made of an extremely rigid carbon fiber composite that ensures a very solid coupling of plate and arm. If necessary, the suspended frame can be adjusted appropriately in height with the thumbscrews on the top of the base. Robust feet can also be adjusted to achieve a level position.
Due to its electronically controlled start-up system, the extremely silent AC synchronous motor will drive the dish at the selected speed in the blink of an eye. To make signal connections, the TD 550 has been equipped with balanced (XLR) and unbalanced (RCA) output jacks.
The front panel of the TD 550, which also contains the operating buttons, is available in chrome or finished in anodized black aluminum. Its high quality surface has been refined with the best black piano lacquer, Makassar lacquer or Black so it can be perfectly combined with the Thorens electronics series.
