Mundorf tape reels are made of oxygen-free copper (OFC). This copper is characterized by a special purity and crystal structure much more perfect. The advantages of the ribbon design are added to those of this noble material. In the tape reels each turn falls exactly on the previous one (not in different layers as it happens in the conventional coil of thread), so that this design comes much closer to the behavior of the ideal coil.
This is evidenced by the fact that these coils maintain their characteristics even above 100 Khz. In addition, the capacitive part of the coil is especially small, so that even very high frequencies (VHF) are effectively blocked (Hobby Hi-Fi 4/2000 tests). Together, these characteristics lead to an improvement in dynamics and spatial feeling.
