A family favorite, the RS2x has been completely redesigned to bring out the full potential of its maple and hemp wood. The bag and shell ring are made from maple, while a hemp core holds everything together. We build with wood for its warm, enveloping tonal capabilities, and the RS2x is an exceptional evolution of the RS2 line.
Characteristic sound.
Discovering new pieces in songs heard hundreds of times is what we are here for. The driver and housing, working together, react to sound vibrations and virtually eliminate transient distortion. With harmonious colors and a world-renowned midrange, the RS2x immediately draws you in. The sound that the woods produce, in combination with our special processes, is full-bodied and rich in vocals.
A new harmony.
The 4th generation of X transducers is here. Tuned specifically for the RS2x wood cabinet, this new speaker design features a stronger magnetic circuit, a lower effective mass voice coil, and a reconfigured diaphragm. Re-engineering these components for our 44mm drivers improves efficiency, reduces distortion, and preserves the harmonic integrity of your music.
A little extra.
New cables and headbands.
Along with the speakers, cables and headbands have been redesigned for the RS2x. With a more durable exterior, the 8-conductor super annealed copper cable further reveals your music with enhanced purity. The new black leather headband features a white stitched detail.

Our first wooden headphones were built in the middle of the night in 1994 by John Grado. Wood has been a staple on our workbench ever since. Each RS2x headset is hand-built by our team in Brooklyn - these headsets go from workbench to workbench until they're ready for your ears. We started building at a kitchen table in 1953, and every experience since then has led to the RS2x.
