The first set of solutions from the GEN_VMT collection, winner of the Red Dot Product Design Award 2020, are the PENRAY 02 Tiles. Presented in 4 different shapes, these tiles can be combined as desired. This is the result of geometric research in the field of pentagonal tiles, where each individual piece has the shape of a pentagon. In this exploratory work we were looking for a grammar of shapes that would allow us to generate infinite combinations of single or double main shapes.
This product explores the potential of the 3D effect. The modules, once arranged according to a specific rule, lead us to a magical world like those of MC Escher. The intelligent use of colour reinforces the potential of this generative pattern.
GEN_VMT Penray 02 is presented in boxes of 12 units, which include 3 units of the intermediate relief shape, 3 units of the more cut-out relief shape and 6 units of the flat shape. This will allow for three combinations similar to the one shown in the image above. The 12 units fill an area of 1.08m2.
