We are at the last, no more, in transformer elevators for mobile coil capsules created by Ortofon in order to meet the demands of those fans who prefer to enjoy the sound of their precious coil capsules mobile using a conventional phono circuitry ( Ie for mobile magnet capsules / MM) instead of its often noisier and responsive mobile coil counterpart. The ST-80 SE ("Special Edition") is a sophisticated passive component designed to provide a very detailed and warm sound reproduction on one side and corpulent on the other. Compared to similar already existing designs, the ST-80 SE includes a larger coil and more windings, as well as more layers in the permalloy core (iron and nickel alloy). Each transformer is magnetically shielded in a permalloy enclosure which in turn is inserted in a sturdy 10 mm thick aluminum cylinder obtained by precision machining of a solid aluminum block. In combination with the opulent external metal enclosure, the transformers achieve effective insulation against ambient noise, thus improving the dynamics. In terms of configuration, the Ortofon ST-80 SE uses a pure monophonic double design that ensures maximum channel spacing. The internal point-to-point wiring is implemented with high purity copper conductors insulated with Teflon, which in addition to the use of high-quality RCA connectors ensures the maintenance of integrity in the transmission of the most delicate audio signals.
