Commemorating our 40th anniversary of analog excellence, Sumiko is extremely pleased to introduce the latest refinement of our award-winning pearwood Celebration II: the new Celebration 40! We've continued to implement the tried-and-true design elements that lend themselves to maximum rigidity and minimal unwanted resonance: a long-grain boron cantilever, a milled Teflon backplate, and the same MC generator securely attached to our cradle. machined anti-resonance aluminium. However, what we bring is a radical improvement in sound.

The Celebration 40 now implements the same solid, ultra-low mass 75µm x 2.5µm Microridge stylus as our flagship Palo Santos Presentation. The addition of the Microridge needle is revealing in terms of microdetail and spatiality. Like its predecessor, the Celebration 40 is non-fatiguing and you can immerse yourself in listening as the hours go by. The predominant characteristics are rich, smooth, and warm, with no analytical tendencies that can be annoying to the ear. Clarity, however, is not sacrificed for this tonal character. We've selected the gorgeous plum wood body for its resonant characteristics that we love. Like pear wood, it's a flowering tree that we've found most accurately embodies the spirit of the Celebration's design. It brings a sense of euphoria that invites you to enter, recalling the charm that vintage tube audio evokes. To ensure accuracy in the cartridge alignment procedure, we have modified the front face of the plum wood shell, clearing the line of sight so you can see the entire cantilever in the setup.

The preamp and load of the Celebration 40 is virtually identical to that of the Celebration II. We ask that you operate within the specified VTF and load ranges to get the most out of your cartridge, but we encourage you to experiment with them. You have some degree of control over how the Celebration 40 sounds in your system (just like any audiophile cartridge), and we want you to find your own sweet spot. Whatever that sweet spot is, we're sure Celebration 40 has something to offer most listeners... and perhaps we should mention that it doesn't cost a penny more.
