In 1991, Pro-Ject started a revolution in HiFi with the introduction of the Pro-Ject 1 turntable. A new low-budget, high-end turntable for the days when CDs were king. Against all odds, we were creating interest in analog audio at a time when others were turning their backs, and success was driven by three critical philosophies:

- Simple but technically correct design

- Valuable high-quality materials

- Expert engineers and completely handcrafted, made in the EU.

This turntable design, with our underlying core philosophy and dedication to music quality, has all the high-end aspects built into it that truly take vinyl listening to supreme heights. But just like hi-fi, a lot of people wanted more. They were willing to invest more, because this is how much they fell in love with their new passion. It's hard to improve such a well-performing turntable, but there are ways to do it. This was not the time to reinvent the wheel, because the core engineering of the P1, or now the X1, was already and still is perfect. Instead, we improved technologies that had been established before:

- The raw materials used in production are of a much higher quality, but also more difficult to obtain.

- Selected components are larger, heavier, more massive and robust to improve performance and build quality.

Not many companies are willing to take this extra step, because it is a difficult step to take and -as always- needs to be carefully balanced with cost vs. reward. Making the wrong decisions can lead to a rapid decline in profits.

We want the X2 to raise the incredibly high standards, as set by its little brother, the X1, to new limits. The X2 is made for those who enjoy detail, build quality, high-quality materials, and even more so audio performance.

More mass on the chassis, on the plate and on the rudder:

Structurally, the X2 is supported by its large, heavy, dense and rigid MDF frame, reducing unwanted resonances to almost imperceptible levels. By adding this extra mass, the X2 is even quieter, allowing for more detailed and accurate vinyl playback. Inside, it houses a sophisticated DC/AC generator board that, combined with the convenient speed control board, provides clean and stable power to the silent motor system. The forearm is longer - 9" long - and the tube has a wider diameter and the carbon/aluminum sandwich construction results in better internal damping. This also means that the entire roll of a gun is improved to compensate the additional mass; overall, tracking will be more precise, stable and precise. The increase in mass makes the tonearm system perfectly suited to low-conformance MC cartridges. The one-piece design prevents vibrations caused by detachable earcups. TPE damped counterweight reduces tonearm cartridge resonances by up to 50%.

Precision Motor Isolation:

A good motor on its own is already very quiet. For the best performance, we have upgraded the engine suspension. This will allow the engine to work stably and free from external influences. The remaining vibrations are damped and eliminated, so they are not transmitted to the chassis, the plate and the cartridge. The X2's motor chassis is carefully balanced and suspended on a precision TPE belt; this way the motor chassis is effectively decoupled from the main socket for optimum performance. It is free floating, completely horizontally level and capable of operating at the highest levels of performance.

High-end cartridge:

The X2 is packaged to suit anyone who cares about how their vinyl sounds. It is supplied with or without Pick it 2M Silver cartridge, with an average sale price of €199.

Best features for music lovers:

Full aluminum base instead of a cheap plastic tie for better and more rigid fixing to the chassis with azimuth and VTA adjustment.

Better Feet:

Height adjustable, insulated aluminum/TPE sandwich feet.

Better Cable:

All of our turntables come with a high-quality RCA cable. Our Connect it E is a low capacitance, semi-balanced cable with superior shielding. Compared to other digital and analog music sources, the signal from a turntable cartridge is naturally very fragile and cheap RCA cables often do not provide the ideal conditions for carrying a phono signal to an amplifier. The Connect it E is specially designed for this application.

The design is carefully tuned to deliver the most critical features at the best price and it's all combined with Pro-Ject's long experience of building the best performing turntables without breaking the budget:

MDF is 2-3 times more expensive than standard particleboard, not to mention the plastic chassis, but it sounds and feels so much better.

The X2's luxurious 8 coats of paint and hand-polished finish are 3-4 times more expensive than plain foils.

Inside, it houses a sophisticated DC/AC generator board that, combined with the convenient speed control board, provides clean, stable power to the quiet-running motor.

This adds additional costs, but its performance is much better than that of a simple direct-fed AC motor.

To further improve performance, the engine will be decoupled from the main base by a new engine suspension system.

In the X2, the motor drives a new, heavy, non-resonant acrylic platter via a subplate drive system and a premium main bearing for smooth fluid rotation. This is the perfect platform to place your precious vinyl records, guaranteeing absolute reliability in their performance and sonic character.

The X2 is also better than its predecessors thanks to the super stiff and perfectly tempered carbon/aluminium sandwich construction. This 9" design is incredibly light and rigid, with improved resistance to external interference. Finished in one piece, with no resonance inducing headstock, the X2 is also adjustable in azimuth and VTA, offering the flexibility so many people are looking for. asking, especially in this and other lower price ranges. The

gun is then supplied with a TPE-damped counterweight, further reducing cartridge-sailing resonances.

The X2 is packaged to suit anyone who cares about how their vinyl sounds. Supplied with or without a high-quality Pick it 2M Silver cartridge, made by the cartridge experts at Ortofon exclusively for Pro-Ject turntables, you can be ready to play within minutes of unpacking. Also supplied in the box are our Connect-IT E RCA cables, a low capacitance, semi-balanced cable with superior shielding that is optimized for use on turntables.

Lastly, the height adjustable feet in its Alu/TPE sandwich construction are a very unique but necessary feature to level the turntable and effectively isolate it from the surface it is placed on.

The X2 has all the high-end features of modern turntable designs to maximize the music and listening experience. It's a statement and a counterpoint against other turntable designs, which offer more features, but less performance.

The X2 is carefully tuned to offer only audio features at the best possible price and, drawing on our decades of experience in analogue technologies, is hand-assembled by a European-based factory you can trust. Every effort has been made not to reduce cost or sound capacity and the end result is a very attractive and musical turntable. The X2 proves that, since 1991, our same philosophies have ensured that music lovers are happy with every new vinyl record they take out for a spin.

The X2 is available in four finishes: a premium walnut veneer, a luxurious 8-coat high-gloss black paint, or a hand-polished 8-coat satin paint in black or white.
