Building on decades of experience in the manufacture of audio cables, JMF-Audio undertook the study of the AES-EBU digital audio link, carried out in parallel with the development of the DXC2.2 MKII converter and later the unit DMT3.7 (universal transport). It was important to fine-tune the connection of the link circuits (interface) between these two devices, it meant a requirement of an extreme qualitative order.
The first cable, named DP3, was added to our product line to great acclaim. A few years later, the more technologically advanced and robust DP5 became the benchmark.
Certified for studio applications, the balanced connection is best suited for high-quality broadcasts. Compared to asymmetric (coaxial) SPDIF, the AES-EBU standard defines signals with ten times greater amplitude, better eye diagram, total symmetry and galvanic isolation (common mode rejection of noise and electromagnetic disturbances).
Another key point is the sensitivity to noise and electromagnetic disturbances. In this regard, the DP5 inherits the TSD shielding technique that JMF Audio developed many years ago, applied to our interconnect and speaker cables. The latest DP5-B also benefits from our new EHF armor super shield technology.
Like all other JMF-Audio cables, it is manufactured in-house and takes advantage of the company's 40+ years of experience in high-frequency transmissions and electronics, as described on the “Brand Story” pages.
The DP5 cable is distinguished by a natural, respectful and homogeneous sound, an exceptional coherence of sound planes and unexpected dynamic nuances.
The DP5 cable can be connected to many audio devices, in different configurations and with great performance, but specifically, it provides a perfect marriage between the DMT 3.7 transport and the DXC 2.2 MKII converter, safeguarding the JMF-Audio philosophy.
Since 2016, each DP5 cable is identified by a serial number and the corresponding manufacturing and measurement notes are recorded in the JMF-Audio archives. Before delivery, each cable goes through a filming phase and a listening test in our studios, verifying a report with our references.
