Wilson Audio announces Alexia V.

Wilson Audio is well known for its continuous pursuit of "Excellence in all things™" and for its persistent R&D breakthroughs. As the development of Alexx V® came to a close and the Alexia® Series 2 celebrated its fifth anniversary, Wilson Audio engineers were put to the test to see how far they could push Alexia's performance. What developed is nothing short of remarkable. Over thirty areas of improvement were identified and refined. Benefiting from the huge evolutions found in Chronosonic XVX® and Alexx V, Alexia V truly sits on the shoulders of giants.

Form follows function.

V-Material is nested in the top of the woofer and midrange enclosures for increased vibration mitigation and control. By using X-Material in all three modules and methodically refining the internal bracing and panel thickness, Wilson Audio engineers have improved the damping of the enclosures to a new standard in this product category.

Wilson Audio acoustic diodes.

Included with Alexia V is a complete set of Wilson Audio acoustic diodes. With Alexx V a completely new spike system has been launched, which has been completely improved over our standard spike system, and features a novel combination of austenitic stainless steel and V material. This coupling system was created by Wilson Audio's Special Applications Engineering (WASAE) division and features superlative vibration management that reveals much greater dynamic nuances across the entire frequency spectrum.

Levelling.

There is now a bubble level seamlessly integrated into the top of the woofer enclosure nestled in the V-material insert that makes levelling the speaker much easier and more convenient.

CSC tweeter.

First introduced in the Alexx V, Wilson's Convergent Synergy Carbon (CSC) tweeter now finds a home in the Alexia V. This unique and complex carbon fibre rear wave chamber is built entirely in-house on one of our many dedicated 3D printers. Listening to the results of this special tweeter, one can't help but get lost in its ability to present an unprecedented level of ambient retrieval and exceptional harmonic expression.

QuadraMag midrange.

The integration of tweeter and midrange is an absolutely critical element for accurate sound reproduction. Originally, when the Alexia Series 2 was introduced, the same cellulose fibre/carbon composite midrange unit found in the WAMM Master Chronosonic was used. This midrange has served Alexia well over the years. After extensive experimentation and refinement of the system, the Alnico (Aluminium-Nickel-Cobalt) QuadraMag has been successfully incorporated into the design and selected as the primary midrange for the Alexia V. First developed for the Chronosonic XVX, the QuadraMag midrange provides a rich, lifelike sound.

Cabinet volume.

In addition to several aesthetic refinements to the outer enclosures, there has also been a noticeable increase in internal volume. The internal volume of the midrange enclosure has been increased by 6.4% to allow for a more open midrange sound. The internal volume of the woofer enclosure has also been increased by 8.9% compared to the Alexia Series 2, creating deeper low-frequency reproduction and faster settling of transients.

Crossover.

All custom capacitors used in the two Alexia V crossovers have been wound and finished in Wilson Audio's capacitor manufacturing department (Reliable Capacitors). These unique capacitors are manufactured to the tightest tolerances in the industry. AudioCapX-WA capacitors, along with fine tuning of the crossover topology, have helped to create a new standard in low-level resolution in loudspeakers.
