FOCAL ON WALL 302: FOR A HOME CINEMA WITHOUT COMPROMISES

TWO AND A HALF FLOOR SPEAKER WITH BASS-REFLEX

Made in France, in the Focal workshops, the On Wall 302 is a wall-mounted speaker that will meet your expectations in both a home cinema and stereo configuration. With an elegant design, it is slim and compact while providing great power handling. Thanks to its four speakers with a flax membrane, the sound has great precision, the voices are perfectly defined and the bass is impressive.

Available in a White High Gloss or Black Satin finish, the Focal On Wall 302 is easily fixed to the wall (accessories included) or on a bracket (optional), depending on your preference.

To complete your Focal system, this loudspeaker is an ideal complement to a 300 Series installation, and can also be easily associated with the On Wall 301, the Dòme Flax or with the Chora, Aria and Kanta series.

HOME CINEMA: REALISM IS AWESOME

EXCLUSIVE TRANSDUCERS

The Flax membrane is an exclusive French-made Focal technology. Equipped with this membrane are the 100 mm (4") midrange drivers, whose realism is impressive: voices are reproduced with clarity and detail. The 25 mm (1") aluminum/magnesium TNF tweeter, also made in France , provides precise and defined treble.

DESIGN AND COMPACTNESS AT THE SERVICE OF SOUND

Modern design, beveled profile, magnetic holder and rotating logo: the speaker can be placed easily and elegantly around a TV. Its bass-reflex design provides power and impact in bass reproduction.

MODULABLE INSTALLATION

Two speakers fixed to the wall around your television, a third positioned under the central track, two speakers on stands... compose your installation as you wish.

TWEETER TNF

inverted dome tweeter

A hallmark of the brand, the inverted dome tweeter has continuously evolved since its creation. Let us remember that its main advantage, in addition to its low directivity, lies in the use of a small diameter coil (therefore very light, for better acceleration) directly associated with the rigid screen.

As in the membranes of the bass and midrange woofers, the specificity of Focal is to work directly on the sound emission and, therefore, on the mechanical characteristics of the materials. With the introduction of the pure beryllium inverted dome tweeter ten years ago, Focal demonstrated the decisive advantage of this unique technology.

Poron suspension for smooth highs

For the TNF tweeter, Focal has incorporated two major evolutions to the aluminum/magnesium tweeter. The suspension that joins the dome to its support uses a shape memory material, Poron. This suspension derives directly from the famous Utopia Béryllium tweeter and allows distortion to be divided by three between 2,000 Hz and 3,000 Hz, an area of very high sensitivity of the ear.

Optimized spatialization

To perfect the spatialization and improve the very low directivity of the inverted dome, far superior to the conventional positive dome of the competition, a waveguide has been developed. In the horizontal plane, the frequency response remains within a range of ±0.5 dB. This performance ensures an incredibly stable soundstage that is less critical of the ideal listening position.

Achieving such precision in a component as delicate as a tweeter has only been possible thanks to the tenacious work of more than twenty years to improve our industrial processes. Control of one's own productions, in fact, is the only solution to continue innovating in the field of loudspeakers...

THE SANDWICH FLAX MEMBRANE

The "flax", in fact, is linen. Made in France, at an affordable price, Flax membranes aim at acoustic performance, high-tech and bring a truly original design to the brand's loudspeakers.

After more than five years of research and development, in 2013 Focal engineers unveiled a new flax fiber Flax membrane. It is characterized by a very natural sound without coloration, a richness of reproduction in the middle and frank attacks in the bass.

Linen fiber, unique qualities

The "F" membrane is a sandwich composed of a core of very high quality flax fiber (“flax”, in English), placed in the center of two thin sheets of fiberglass. It satisfies all the criteria for a hi-fi cone: it's light for good dynamics, stiff for sustaining bass, and damped for neutral, natural listening.

Rigidity

A "monomaterial" cone cannot associate all these criteria perfectly. The sandwich technique plays a very important role in the sound neutrality of a membrane, a neutrality that has always distinguished the Focal sound. The great control of the sandwich technology in the Utopia and K2 Power ranges allowed 162 to perfect the revolutionary "Flax" membranes reconciling the three criteria.

Lightness

Flax fiber is twice as light as fiberglass since it is hollow. It has very little elasticity, which makes it ideal for increasing the bending stiffness modulus of a sandwich structure. In addition, it can be obtained in a nonwoven bundle with a large diameter and thus provide the thickness and rigidity sought for a sandwich.

Damping

Composite materials provide relevant answers for applications where rigidity and low mass are sought. However, its negative side is the lack of damping which leads to poor vibration control. Recent developments combining composite and natural fiber bring unexpected opportunities. Linen fiber offers an excellent internal cushioning of the same order of importance as that of glass, Kevlar® or aluminum fibres.

Made in France and competitiveness

Flax membranes are designed and manufactured in France, from French flax fiber. France is the main country in Europe in the cultivation of textile flax, mainly in the regions of Flanders, Picardy, Normandy and Pas-de-Calais. French flax fiber is considered the best in the world.

Synthetic fibers or sponges from petrochemical sources suffer variations in the price of crude oil. Organic fabrics or "eco-fabrics", such as linen, are competitive...

Furthermore, the production of superlative quality "W" and "K2" sandwiches can only be done manually; its version is very limited for cost reasons. The industrial process developed to make this "F" sandwich makes this technology very competitive.
