Rega Planar 1 Plus

Introducing the brand new Rega Planar 1 Plus turntable.

We asked ourselves, how do we make the most successful turntable sound better, even easier to use and more accessible to a wider audience? The answer was simple, add a high quality, custom designed, high quality moving magnet turntable preamplifier, awarded by What Hi-fi? magazine with 5 stars.

We removed the USB socket and used the surplus budget to improve what was already a great turntable.

The new included preamp allows you to connect this Planar 1 Plus to almost any system that has a standard line input via a phono/phono (included) or phono/minijack 3.5 mm cable.

In other words, it is not necessary to have a phono input on the amplifier, nor is it necessary to buy a separate phono preamp. The Planar 1 Plus will connect directly to any standard line level input, such as a CD player.

There are advantages to placing the preamp under the arm, as the direct connection avoids any transmission of vibrations to the platter and arm.

The Planar 1 PLUS benefits from all the advantages of its sibling, the Planar 1, such as a low noise 24v motor, precision bushing bearing assembly and handmade RB110 arm with a Rega Carbon capsule included from the factory. Set-up is still possible in less than 30 seconds, making it the easiest Rega turntable to use to date.

Get on with your favourite LP, sit back and enjoy!

Ruark Audio MR1 MK2

As independent reviews have shown, Ruark's award-winning MR1 Bluetooth speakers offer outstanding sound quality in multiple areas. Launched in 2017, the second version MR1 MK2 maintains all the virtues that made its predecessors great but with a new look and updates in sound and connectivity. They are better than ever!

With a high-quality aptX Bluetooth receiver, analog and digital inputs linked to a class A-B amplifier and Ruark Audio's own crossover and drivers, MR1 MK2 are multifunction hi-fi speakers. Perfect as computer speakers, tailor-made for use with a turntable and a great way to enhance the sound of your TV. MR1 Mk2 have been designed to fit into your life and your home with a sound quality that will feel very natural. Perfect for stylish users.

linear perfection

Like other Ruark devices, MR1 Mk2 include a high-quality switch-mode Class A-B linear amplifier for the power supply. Linear amplifiers are used in the best audio equipment and, in Ruark Audio's opinion, offer superior reproduction compared to newer digital amplifiers, which can feel artificial in comparison. This is just one of the reasons why MR1 sounds so good.

Playback with paste

The MR1's tweeter and bass driver have been specifically designed to ensure optimal reproduction from its compact dimensions and both feature powerful neodymium magnetic systems. This type of magnet allows a greater magnetic concentration, for better driver control and a light and protected system.

Take control

MR1 MK2 includes a Control System that, like the rest of Ruark devices, is intuitive and simple, allowing you to quickly change the Source and volume. In addition, the source, volume and functions can also be adjusted from the comfort of the sofa thanks to its included remote control.

Automatic standby

With integrated automatic standby, the MR1 goes into hibernation after a short period without receiving a signal. This feature is particularly useful when using MR1 with the TV, because it will automatically wake up or hibernate when the TV is turned on or off.

Quality sound anywhere

MR1 MK2 is capable of delivering great sound anywhere in the house. Ideal for use with a turntable or a television, but by adding the optional Ruark Backpack battery, you can also enjoy them outside the home and on summer days. Additionally, the active unit goes directly to mono when the passive speaker is disconnected. As a standalone unit, MR1 is extra portable and perfect for accompanying you on vacation.

Connect

On the active speaker there are both analog and digital inputs, allowing auxiliary sources to be easily connected. Specifically, the optical digital input is ideal for connecting streaming devices such as Google Chromecast and also offers an ideal connection point for most flat screen televisions. MR1 also includes a subwoofer output allowing you to connect a powered subwoofer for extra dynamics and fantastic movie sound.

The best in Bluetooth

The ease of use of Bluetooth has made it the favorite wireless connection for audio streaming, being compatible with virtually any device and music apps such as Spotify, Apple Music or TIDAL. MR1 MK2 and its high-quality aptX Bluetooth receiver allow you to enjoy this technology with CD audio quality.

A little wonder

MR1 is a miniaturized HiFi speaker and, like larger HiFi systems, its internal crossover plays an essential role in making it sound this good. Many compact speakers use a basic, easy-to-assemble crossover to save costs, but for the MR1 Ruark has designed a multi-network using audiophile-grade components.

Beautiful and robust

MR1 MK2 includes a beautiful fixed grille, lined with authentic British-made Camira fabric. This resistant and timeless material was one of the requirements for these new speakers to have an attractive and contemporary appearance, which does not affect their acoustic properties at all.

Audioquest Tower RCA - 1.5m

Analog audio interconnect cable named after London's Tower Bridge.

In all Bridges & Falls series cables, you will find the best metals and most sophisticated technologies, including Air-Tube insulation, dielectric polarization system and noise dissipation system at prices lower than ever.

All cables in our Bridges & Falls series have their left and right channels contained in a single jacket and feature our asymmetrical double-balanced geometry with separate high-quality positive and negative conductors. This design allows for a thin, flexible and exceptionally versatile high-performance cable that can be terminated with a variety of current connections, including 3.5mm (male or female), DIN and RCA. However, keep in mind that, by necessity, the connectors on the Bridges & Falls cables are quite close together. If your components' L and R inputs are more than 3" (7.6 cm) apart, consider our Rivers or Elements series models.

Available lengths: 0.6m - 20m

DOUBLE BALANCED ASYMMETRIC GEOMETRY

Designed for single-ended applications, the dual-balanced asymmetric geometry offers a relatively lower impedance into the ground for a richer, more dynamic experience. While many single-ended cable designs use a single path for both ground and shield, dual-balanced designs separate them for cleaner, quieter performance.

METALLIC LAYER NOISE DISSIPATION

It is easy to achieve 100% shield coverage. Preventing captured radio frequency interference (RFI) from modulating the equipment ground reference requires AudioQuest noise dissipation. Traditional shielding systems typically absorb and then drain RF noise/energy to the component ground, modulating and distorting the critical "reference" ground plane, which in turn causes signal distortion. Noise dissipation "shields", absorbing and reflecting most of this noise/RF energy before it reaches the ground bonded layer.

GOLD PLATED AND COLD WELDED FINISHES

This connector design allows for a solderless connection, which is a common source of distortion. Instead of welding, the process uses a high-pressure technique. Because ground shells are stamped rather than machined, the metal used can be chosen for low distortion rather than machinability.

SOLID LONG GRAIN COPPER (LGC) CONDUCTORS

Solid Long Grain Copper (LGC) allows for smoother, clearer sound than cables using regular OFHC (oxygen-free high conductivity) copper. Solid conductors prevent strand interaction, a major source of distortion. Surface quality is critical because a conductor can be considered as a rail guide for both electric fields inside a conductor and magnetic fields outside the conductor. LGC has fewer oxides within the conductive material, fewer impurities, fewer grain boundaries and definitely better performance.

POLYETHYLENE FOAM INSULATION

Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit board materials absorb energy. Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Because air absorbs almost no energy and polyethylene has low losses and a benign distortion profile, polyethylene foam, with its high air content, causes much less of the blurring effect common to other materials.
