Furutech's Pure Transmission FI-50 Piezo Ceramic series connector bodies and housings feature several innovative construction techniques. A multi-layer non-magnetic stainless steel and carbon fiber shell incorporates a special insulating and shock-absorbing acetal copolymer. Furutech settled on stainless steel and carbon fiber for the outer shell after extensive listening sessions with Japanese industry figures and audiophiles.
The connector body combines two "active" materials: nano-sized ceramic particles and powdered carbon (only nano-sized ceramic particles effectively couple with carbon powder). Nylon and fiberglass are also incorporated to form an extremely efficient, well-damped, mechanically and electrically non-resonant connector body. That's right, they are also electrically damped.
Piezoelectric effects are the key. Furutech's breakthrough in design and materials is based on the use of nano-sized polycrystalline ferroelectric ceramic particles that exhibit electrogenerative properties. The mechanical pressure creates an electrical charge that forms a bridge between the electrical and mechanical oscillation.
The carbon powder exhibits thermal conduction characteristics that interact with the charged ferroceramic particles and convert their energy into heat that is expelled and released from the surface of the connector body.
These carefully selected and tested "active" materials mechanically and electrically wet the connector and receptacle while "interconverting" thermal, mechanical, and electrical energy for the best pure Furutech transmission signal imaginable.
