Renewed harmonic structure
The sound of the wood
Grado has been working with mahogany longer than any other wood, a skill it has honed over generations. Now, the GS1000x goes one step further, combining mahogany with ipê wood, a hardy tropical wood that perfectly complements its properties. This combination enhances the distinctive sound of the GS1000x, with the mahogany providing warm tones and the ipê acting as a firm foundation for any sound that passes through it.

Immerse yourself in the music and sense the space between instruments thanks to the GS1000x's unique soundstage. This is achieved when our large ear pads, 50 mm driver, 12-conductor cable and generous housing work in perfect sync.

X-Series drivers
The GS1000x is the first full-size headphone to use the 50mm X drivers. These drivers, tuned to reflect the warmth of mahogany, include a more powerful magnetic circuit, a lower-mass voice coil and a redesigned diaphragm. This upgrade to the 50mm driver components increases efficiency, minimises distortion and preserves the harmonic purity of the music.

New cables and headphones
In addition to the speakers, both the cables and the headband of the GS1000x have been redesigned. The 12-conductor cable, made of super annealed copper and housed in a more robust exterior, offers superior sonic clarity. The new black leather headband features a distinctive white stitched detail.

Hand-assembled in Brooklyn
Grado's first wooden headphones were built in 1994, over one night, by John Grado. Since then, wood has been an essential component in our products. Each RS1x headset is assembled by hand by our team in Brooklyn, moving from workstation to workstation until ready to be enjoyed. We started on a kitchen table in 1953, and every experience we've had has led us to create the RS1x.
