Musical Fidelity's Nu-Vista PAS is a reference stereo power amplifier, distinguished by its separate power supply and fully balanced circuit topology. This amplifier is based on the advanced circuitry of the Nu-Vista 800 model, but has been optimised to be 100% symmetrical, integrating the best of the UK firm's Nu-Vista technology. This design includes a Class A polarised separating amplifier, equipped with 6S51N nuvistors, which are individually selected and tested valves to ensure the highest quality and consistency of performance.
In the output section, the Nu-Vista PAS incorporates a total of 10 high-power transistors that are thermally compensated, ensuring stable and reliable operation over time. This careful design ensures that even under demanding load conditions, the amplifier maintains exceptional performance. The biasing of the power amplifier devices has been meticulously tuned to operate in Class A for the first 5 watts, after which it switches to Class B, thus providing efficiency and preservation of sound quality at higher output levels.
The dedicated Nu-Vista PAS PSU is another key component in the design of this system. Mounted in a robust metal enclosure that aesthetically matches the main block, this unit is designed to minimise noise and maximise efficiency. The PSU not only powers the amplifier, but also incorporates advanced filtering networks that purify both the incoming and outgoing signal. This approach further reduces the noise level on the power supply lines and virtually eliminates mains artefacts that could interfere with the sensitive audio circuitry.
