S / PDIF (Sony / Philips Digital InterFace), which arrived in 1983 along with CD, is still an important part of our world today. S / PDIF is transmitted through digital coaxial and a 75Ω cable is like conduit that has to carry relatively low-frequency analog video (composite video, up to 4.2 MHz), or super-sensitive digital audio (S / PDIF , up to 24.576 MHz), or uncompressed high definition video (up to 750 MHz), or cable TV / broadband (CATV, up to 1 GHz).
100% PERFECT SURFACE SOLID SILVER CONDUCTORS (PSS): Perfect surface technology applied to extreme purity silver provides unprecedented clarity and dynamic contrast. Solid conductors prevent filament interaction, a major source of distortion in cables. Perfect-Surface Extreme Purity Silver minimizes distortion caused by grain boundaries that exist within any metallic conductor, almost completely eliminating hardness and greatly increasing clarity compared to OFHC, OCC, 8N, and other coppers.
HARD CELL FOAM INSULATION: Hard cell foam insulation is used exclusively on most AudioQuest digital audio and video cables. Similar to PE foamed, it is nitrogen injected to create pockets of air. The "hard" foam is used because the stiffness of the material allows the cable conductors to maintain the same relationship to each other throughout the entire length of the cable, thus ensuring that the characteristic impedance of the cable is consistent.
100% SHIELD COVERAGE (PERFECT SURFACE COPPER FOIL + SILVER SPIRAL): Shielding always plays an important role in any cable design, but shielding in the coaxial interconnect plays an especially important role because it functions not only as a shielding but also as a way back. For this reason, AudioQuest pays special attention to the quality of the shielding metal and the manufacturing techniques, both of which affect the sound and the picture.
CARBON BASED 7 CAPACITY NOISE DISPERSION SYSTEM (NDS), 3 x EMI ABSORPTION: 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF interference from modulating the equipment ground reference requires the AQ Noise Dissipation System. Carbon-laden metals and synthetics prevent most RFIs from reaching the equipment ground plane.
