AudioQuest Carbon AES/EBU
The AudioQuest Carbon AES/EBU is a high-performance balanced digital cable engineered to maximize timing accuracy and minimize jitter in 110-ohm AES/EBU digital transmissions. Developed for both professional environments and high-end home Hi-Fi systems, it delivers an exceptionally stable, quiet, and precise transfer of digital audio signals.
The AES/EBU standard was originally created by the Audio Engineering Society and the European Broadcasting Union to ensure highly reliable balanced digital connections in professional applications. Thanks to its inherent advantages over other digital formats, it has also become a reference in high-level audiophile systems where signal timing integrity is critical for accurate analog reconstruction.
The Carbon AES/EBU features solid 5% silver-plated copper conductors, a configuration particularly effective for very high-frequency digital signals. Since digital signals primarily travel along the surface of the conductor, the high-purity silver plating significantly improves transmission, reducing loss, distortion, and timing errors. The use of solid-core conductors also eliminates strand-interaction distortion — one of the main contributors to jitter and signal degradation in conventional digital cables.
Its 110-ohm balanced geometry ensures extremely precise and stable signal transfer, optimizing compatibility with DACs, streamers, digital transports, and professional electronics equipped with AES/EBU connections.
The nitrogen-injected hard-cell foam insulation maintains consistent internal geometry along the entire cable length, guaranteeing uniform impedance and minimizing transmission errors. This electrical stability contributes to a more focused, three-dimensional, and natural sound presentation.
For protection against interference, the cable employs 100% coverage shielding using foil and tinned braid. Additionally, AudioQuest incorporates its advanced 5-layer Carbon-Based Noise-Dissipation System (NDS™), designed to absorb and dissipate RF noise before it can reach the ground reference of connected components.
The terminations feature direct silver-plated pure copper connectors, assembled using cold welding to minimize signal loss and avoid distortions associated with traditional soldering methods.
The result is an exceptionally refined and musical AES/EBU cable, capable of clearly enhancing clarity, dynamics, imaging precision, and naturalness in high-level digital systems.
