Originally called Disappointment for having frustrated Alexander Mackenzie's hope that it would lead to the Pacific rather than the Arctic Ocean, the Mackenzie River is the largest and longest river system in Canada. Traversing 2,635 miles, it flows through a vast network of lakes, boreal forests, and Arctic tundra. The many tributaries of the Mackenzie cover portions of three provinces - British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan - and two territories, Yukon and the Northwest Territories. PERFECT SURFACE SOLID COPPER + (PSC +) CONDUCTORS: Perfect Surface Copper + has an astonishingly smooth and pure surface. Patented metal processing technology protects the surface of the wire at every stage of drawing and fabrication. When high-purity, low-oxide copper is kept as soft, pure, and smooth as possible, it becomes a wonderfully low-distortion PSC + conductor. PSC + is manufactured by applying the same exceptional technology to ultrapure copper. The resulting sound quality is even more focused and simply less obtrusive. For more than 30 years AudioQuest has pioneered the use of higher metals; however, even we were surprised by the huge leap in performance that was made possible with Perfect Surface Technology. PSC + simply outperforms all previously available copper metals at any price. All Mackenzie drivers are solid. The electrical and magnetic interaction between the strands of a conventional cable is the biggest source of distortion, often causing a somewhat dirty and harsh sound. Solid conductors are critical to achieving Mackenzie's very clean sound.

NITROGEN INJECTED HARD CELL FOAM INSULATION: Nitrogen injected hard cell foam insulation is used exclusively on most AudioQuest digital audio and video cables. Similar to foamed PE, it is injected with nitrogen to create pockets of air. The "hard" foam is used because the stiffness of the material allows the cable conductors to maintain the same relationship to each other throughout the entire length of the cable, thus ensuring that the characteristic impedance of the cable is consistent.

CARBON-BASED 3-LAYER NOISE DISPERSION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% screen coverage is easy. To prevent captured RF interference from modulating the equipment ground reference, AQ's Noise Dissipation System is required. Carbon-laden metals and synthetics prevent most RFIs from reaching the equipment ground plane.

TRIPLE BALANCE GEOMETRY: The three conductors of the "triple balanced" Mackenzie cables ensure that, whether prepared with RCA or XLR connectors, the positive and negative signals have conductive paths of equal low distortion. The 100% coverage shield is never used as the bottom conductor.

COLD SOLDERED HANGING DIRECTLY OVER PURE PURPLE COPPER PLUGS: This plug design allows for a solderless connection, which is a common source of distortion. Because ground bushings are stamped rather than machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion rather than machined. Purple copper offers a cleaner, clearer sound than nickel-plated or OFHC metals commonly found in plugs from competing manufacturers.
