The Yukon River, which means "Great River" in Athabaskan, rises from the Llewellyn Glacier in British Columbia and empties into the Bering Sea in Alaska. It may have been the first immigration route for the first indigenous humans of North America, and it was certainly the main means of travel during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1896-1903. Paddle-wheel riverboats continued to be the dominant mode of transportation along the river until the 1950s, when the Klondike Highway was completed. Yukon River king salmon remains an elusive but highly prized delicacy.

PERFECT SURFACE SOLID COPPER + (PSC +) CONDUCTORS: Perfect Surface Copper + has an astonishingly smooth and pure surface. Patented metal processing technology protects the surface of the wire at every stage of drawing and fabrication. When high-purity, low-oxide copper is kept as soft, pure, and smooth as possible, it becomes a wonderfully low-distortion PSC + conductor. PSC + is manufactured by applying the same exceptional technology to ultrapure copper. The resulting sound quality is even more focused and simply less obtrusive. For more than 30 years AudioQuest has pioneered the use of higher metals; however, even we were surprised by the huge leap in performance that was made possible with Perfect Surface Technology. PSC + simply outperforms all previously available copper metals at any price. All Yukon drivers are solid. The electrical and magnetic interaction between the strands of a conventional cable is the biggest source of distortion, often causing a somewhat dirty and harsh sound. Solid conductors are critical to achieving a very clean sound in the Yukon.

POLYETHYLENE AIR TUBE INSULATION: Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. Wire insulation and circuit materials absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. All Yukon conductors use PE air tube insulation because air absorbs almost no energy, and polyethylene is low loss and has a benign distortion profile. PE air tube insulation causes much less of the blurring effect common to other materials.

CARBON-BASED 3-LAYER NOISE DISPOSITION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF interference from modulating the equipment ground reference requires the AQ Noise Dissipation System. Carbon-laden metals and synthetics prevent most RFIs from reaching the equipment ground plane.

TRIPLE BALANCE GEOMETRY: The three conductors of Yukon "Triple Balanced" cables ensure that, whether prepared with RCA or XLR connectors, positive and negative signals have equal low distortion conductive paths. The 100% coverage shield is never used as the bottom conductor.

COLD SOLDERED HANGING DIRECTLY OVER PURE PURPLE COPPER PLUGS: This plug design allows for a solderless connection, which is a common source of distortion. Because ground bushings are stamped rather than machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion rather than machined. Purple copper offers a cleaner, clearer sound than nickel-plated or OFHC metals commonly found in plugs from competing manufacturers.

Characteristics:

- Perfect surface solid copper conductors (PSC +).

- Triple Balance Geometry (Separate Ground Reference Conductor).

- Asymmetric conductors (Lower impedance for critical terrain).

- Insulation of polyethylene air pipes.

- Carbon-based 3-layer Noise Dissipation System (NDS).

- Cold welded, hung directly on the pure purple copper plugs.

- Available in black / dark gray braid.
