Theva N°1 is the compact model of the Theva range. It can be installed anywhere you want or fixed on a support (available as an option). This is angled for a listener-centered soundstage (Time Alignment). It offers clear highs, midrange and precise and balanced bass thanks to its TNF tweeter and Slatefiber membrane speaker, Focal technologies that restore high-fidelity sound quality.

Made in France, Theva N°1 has a delicate and careful design. Added front, elegant finishes in black or wood, metallic and screen-printed rings, magnetic fabric support, positioning of the opening on the back: refinement is in every detail.

The Slatefiber Cone: Detailed Sound

Exclusive to Focal, made in France, the Slatefiber cone is made from recycled carbon fibers sandwiched between two layers of thermoplastic polymer. In search of perfection, our engineers have chosen to use non-woven carbon fibers oriented in the same direction to obtain even more rigidity, damping and lightness, the "essentials" of a good speaker. Renowned for transcribing a dynamic, rich and balanced sound, it has proven itself in many products (home, studio, car).

The TNF tweeter: High finesse

Made by Focal in France, the TNF aluminum/magnesium inverted dome tweeter delivers smooth, clear highs. The suspension that connects the dome to its support uses a shape memory material, Poron. This suspension derives directly from the famous Utopia Beryllium tweeter and allows the distortion to be divided by three between 2000 Hz and 3000 Hz, an area of ​​​​very high sensitivity for the ear. This Focal tweeter ensures a highly stable soundstage.

Renowned for its sound savoir-faire, the French brand has taken the iconic features of Chora speakers and gone even further to create Theva. This price category leading line includes six models to cover all Hi-Fi and Home Cinema uses, with exceptional performance, style and design.

One line, with six speakers

Focal offers a complete line. Theva N°1 is the compact monitor type loudspeaker; Theva N°2 the new 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker speaker with an ultra-slim profile and 5" (130mm) speaker drivers, a first for Focal home floorstanding loudspeakers; Theva N°3, the timeless loudspeaker 3-way floorstanding speaker, and Theva N°3-D, the speaker that incorporates a transducer speaker on top for sensational Dolby Atmos® sound effects, not to mention the 2-way Theva Center speaker for delivering crystal-clear cinematic dialogue. and Theva Surround, the loudspeaker that spatializes the sound.

Design and finishes

The finishes are inherited from the Chora line, only even more refined. The enclosures have been renewed and are even more compact, while the additional front panels provide a perfect finish to make the products even more robust. Dark or light wood effects are available for the side panels, creating warmth.

Finally, Focal has chosen screen-printed metal rings to frame the speaker drivers, the ventilation has been placed at the rear to leave elegant front panels, and the bases and grilles are in perfect harmony with each model.

Speakers made in France for pure Hi-Fi sound

Focal's technology and experience have come together to create this line. Made in France at Focal's workshops, all speaker drivers incorporate Slatefiber Technology, a unique cone made from recycled non-woven carbon fibers.

Known for reproducing a dynamic, rich and balanced sound, this cone has proven its worth across numerous products for the home, recording studios and even car audio systems.

Also made by Focal, the TNF tweeter delivers smooth, clear highs. With its outstanding performance, it was the obvious choice for the engineers who developed Theva. The speakers also feature canted mounts for Time Alignment spatial coherence, achieving a more listener-focused soundstage. 

SMOOTH AND PRECISE TREBLES

The suspension that joins the dome to its support is made of Poron, a material with shape memory. This suspension is derived directly from the famous Utopia beryllium tweeter, reducing distortion by three times between 2000 and 3000 Hz, the range of great sensitivity of the ear. The spatialization and low directionality of the inverted dome allow for silky highs to be heard from anywhere in the listening room.

Slatefiber technology, exclusive to Focal, is based on the use of non-woven recycled carbon fibers, sandwiched between two layers of a thermoplastic polymer. In their search for perfection, Focal engineers have chosen to use non-woven carbon fibers oriented in the same direction to improve stiffness and damping.

Manufactured in the Focal workshops with ultra-modern production facilities, this “slate”-looking membrane provides greater rigidity and damping and is also lighter, the three keys to a good loudspeaker.

SLATEFIBER MEMBRANE TECHNOLOGY

Aesthetics and performance

After more than four years of research and development, Focal presents in 2019 a new technology with exceptional characteristics: the  Slatefiber membrane . 

Made in France , this membrane is characterized by a  dynamic, rich and very balanced sound , especially in the midrange. Its acoustic qualities and its exclusive " blackboard effect " make it a Hi-Fi reference in its price category.

A true composite membrane

The Slatefiber membrane is a composite material cone made from  non-woven recycled carbon fibers. Focal is the first brand in the audio sector to use recycled carbon fibers in its speakers and a  thermoplastic polymer . The acoustic qualities provided by the combination of these two materials are excellent, both in sound speed and in rigidity and damping.

Rigidity

Carbon fibers themselves have unusual rigidity. In addition,  since they are all oriented in the same direction , they make it possible to further increase the rigidity of the speaker and therefore obtain deeper bass.

Cushioning

The carbon fibers are oriented, but  they are also not woven , to guarantee better cushioning. Thermoplastic polymer is found between the fibers to bind them together and thereby increase cushioning.

Lightness

During development, special attention has been paid to the weight of the membranes to optimize their sensitivity: carbon fibers are  very light . Thus, in addition to the criteria of rigidity and damping, the Slatefiber membrane satisfies the criteria of lightness of the loudspeaker. 

Exclusive Made in France technology

Like the Flax, Kevlar and W membranes, the Slatefiber membrane is manufactured entirely in the Focal workshops in Saint-Étienne.

In order to combine productivity, performance and manufacturing in France, Focal engineers have developed semi-automated industrial means for manufacturing the Slatefiber membrane.

HIGH POWER IN A SMALL ENCLOSURE:

The Cub Evo subwoofer brings back the design codes of our Hi-Fi subwoofers in a "lifestyle" product. Equipped with an 8" (203 mm) transducer and a 200 W Class D amplifier, it is characterised by its MDF panel construction and matt black finish.

To meet the requirements imposed by the listening room, Cub Evo has all the features typical of Focal subwoofers: crossover filters, phase inverter, as well as automatic ON/OFF function and RCA LFE input.
