Innovation in Audio Decoding
The Cayin RU6 features advanced R2R conversion technology, the core of which consists of two paired resistors: "R" and "2R", the latter being twice the size of the former. To achieve 24-bit decoding, 48 resistors per channel (23xR and 25x2R) are required, totalling 96 pieces for stereo. This technology is renowned for providing a natural and realistic sound, ideal for the most demanding audiophiles.
Selectable NOS and OS Modes
The Cayin RU6 offers a choice of two modes of operation:
- Non-Oversampling (NOS): maintains the original sampling frequency without digital filters or post-processing, optimising the time domain and reducing phase distortion and jitter. This produces a natural, organic and coherent sound.
- Oversampling (OS): Increases the sampling frequency by interpolation before D/A conversion, improving resolution and reducing noise. This mode provides impressive detail and a clean presentation with a dark background.
Discrete Volume Control
Data integrity is crucial in R2R circuits. Conventional digital volume controls can deteriorate the sound. Therefore, Cayin has developed a proprietary volume control using a discrete array of resistors and relays that offer precision, low noise and low power consumption. The 99 volume levels are managed by 9 resistor segments, ensuring a transparent and natural sound signature.

The Cayin RU6 features volume buttons that also allow menu navigation. Its 1" OLED display shows all settings clearly. Balanced 3.5mm and 4.4mm headphone outputs are available to suit any headphone collection.
Dual construction on two base plates
To minimise interference, the RU6's circuitry is divided into two base plates, separating the digital circuitry from the analogue circuitry. This protects the audio signal from possible interference caused by the reference clock or DSP, maintaining the integrity of the sound.
