The FiiO FF5 redefines the concept of in-ear headphones with a 14.2mm dynamic driver. These headphones are designed to deliver extended and robust bass, thanks to a carbon diaphragm.
They are the first in-ear headphones with a detachable MMCX cable and an open design that provides a tight frequency response. Their CNC aluminium construction gives them a modern, urban look.
Next-generation driver
The FF5 breaks with the traditions of its format with a large, specially developed 14.2 mm dynamic driver using an innovative carbon diaphragm. This driver features a PU gasket and a carbon diaphragm, making it lightweight and rigid. This results in a sound with fast transients and excellent treble resolution, minimising non-linear distortion.
Attractive and functional design
Inspired by flower petals, the FF5 has a beautiful and functional design. FiiO has reduced unwanted reflections and vibrations inside the FF5's casing by using an open design and an acoustic damping device, which diffuses air pressure outwards, producing a purer sound and improved bass response.
Monocrystalline copper cable
The FF5 comes with a silver-plated monocrystalline copper cable. It is composed of 14 wires stranded into a small wire and 7 of these small wires stranded into a large wire, resulting in 4 large wires with a total of 392 wires. This improves transmission speed and stability. Litz braiding reduces the skin effect, further improving conductivity and treble resolution.
Detachable cable and connectors
Most headphones do not have detachable cables, which limits their usability if damaged. The FF5 has a detachable MMCX cable, allowing you to replace damaged cables or try different materials. In addition, the cable features interchangeable 3.5mm and 4.4mm plugs to accommodate different audio sources.
Deep and extended bass
FiiO has developed acoustic resistance tubes for the FF5, which increase and extend the bass response. These tubes deflect air pressure resulting from diaphragm vibration, reducing resonance in the low frequencies.
Tight frequency response
The FF5 is designed to emphasise female vocals, avoiding heavy bass. Special attention has been paid to representing the frequency range and tone of female vocals, controlling resonance at 127 Hz to avoid muddiness and increasing the range from 2kHz-4kHz to make vocals clearer and more prominent. The lightweight carbon fibre allows for excellent treble performance, highlighting vocal and instrument overtones.
Lightweight and durable
The FF5 is made of aluminium alloy to reduce weight and maintain durability. Each earcup weighs only 3.4g, allowing for complete immersion in high-fidelity music.
Additional details
The FF5 includes three types of sponge covers and non-slip silicone rings in sizes M and L, providing a better seal for extended bass and maintaining high resolution at other frequencies.
