The SR225x and SR125x have had a sibling rivalry for decades. Being the most mature, the SR225x uses the new F pad to open up the sound to more textured tones. The driver works in unison to produce a unique sound and be as fast as the SR125x. But don't tell his little brother.

driver. Grado's 4th generation drivers are here. Tuned specifically for the SR225x, this new driver design features a stronger magnetic circuit, a lower effective mass voice coil, and a reconfigured diaphragm. Re-engineering these components for our 44mm drivers improves efficiency, reduces distortion, and preserves the harmonic integrity of your music.
New cables and headband.
Along with the speakers, cables and headband have been redesigned for the SR225x. The 8-conductor cable, now housed in a more durable exterior, transfers more information and features a super annealed copper strand to improve audio signal purity. The new headband is more padded for a more comfortable experience.

Each SR225x is hand built by our team in Brooklyn. These headphones go from workbench to workbench until they're ready for your ears. We started building at a kitchen table in 1953, and every experience since then has led to the creation of the SR225x.
