The 7000A is a stereo integrated amplifier with built-in DAC that immediately stands out with a sleek new full-colour front-facing function display, which makes access to its impressive menu system quick and easy, with options such as digital filter selection, oversampling, input sensitivity adjustment, balance control or start-up volume level. In terms of connectivity, the 7000A houses a wide range of digital (including USB-B) and analogue sockets, as well as an ARC-compatible HDMI for easy integration into an AV suite. There are also multiple line inputs and a phono input for moving magnet (MM) capsules, the latter substantially improved over the best-selling 6000A, thanks to the combined use of an input noise suppression system and very precise RIAA equalisation circuitry. The DAC section, meanwhile, features a sophisticated ESS Technology ES9038QM2 32-bit technology chip, followed by a dedicated Class A active filtering system. As a result, the 7000A can reproduce with extreme finesse digital content encoded in PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz, DSD up to DSD512 and MQA, plus the ability to oversample incoming digital signals up to 352.8 or 384 kHz and choose from 5 reconstruction filters. Roon Tested, the new Audiolab also features analogue circuitry including a generous power supply equipped with a 250 VA toroidal transformer and an output stage with Complementary Feedback topology (CFB).
