The sound of vinyl can be significantly improved, when unwanted resonances between the record and the record can be reduced, while playing. That is why the disk and disk surfaces must be tightly joined. Standard record discs, which use weight to achieve this, have two disadvantages:
1) Weight can induce higher levels of rumble, when used with lower cost turntables that have less massive main bearings. This will negatively affect the sound.
2) Instead of the desired closer contact between the vinyl and the turntable, the opposite is often achieved: Due to the high weight in the center of the plate the record bows and the edge loses contact with the turntable.
Clamp is the real solution, a fixture with a clamping mechanism around the center spindle, that won't add weight, which would induce rumble. You can adjust the pressure according to the condition of your warped logs. Mounting of the clamp is easily done in a matter of seconds.
