REGA Strobe Kit. Strobe for speed synchronisation of 33⅓ / 45 / 78 rpm
This accessory is designed to adjust the speed of any turntable. The hand-held strobe unit generates a 100 Hz pulsed light source for use with the supplied 180 line strobe disc.
Designed as the perfect companion to the speed adjustable Rega Neo power supply. Simply place the supplied strobe disc directly onto the turntable mat. With the player running at 33⅓, 45 or 78 RPM, hold the strobe LED directly above the lines to assess the speed of the turntable.
How to use the Rega strobe light
With your turntable spinning and the speed set to 33⅓ RPM, place the strobe disc over the recording spindle directly on your turntable mat.
Hold the strobe light approximately 2 to 3 centimetres from the lines on the record.
If the lines freeze and remain stable, this indicates that the turntable is operating at the correct speed.
If the lines on the vinyl record move slowly clockwise, this indicates that the turntable is running fast.
If the lines on the vinyl record move slowly counterclockwise, this indicates that the turntable is running slowly.
TIP: To ensure an accurate reading, it is recommended that you keep a reference point, such as the tip of a pencil, near the lines during rotation to easily identify whether the lines are steady or rotating.
If your turntable or power supply is adjustable, you can correct the turntable speed until the lines are stable.
Tips for non-adjustable Rega turntables
If your turntable is not adjustable, try a new drive belt first. Drive belts can stretch over time and cause minor speed variations. Noticeable speed variations are more likely to be mechanical problems. Check the bearing oil in the centre hub. If your Rega turntable uses a steel ball bearing, make sure it is present inside the brass bearing housing (not used on Rega Planar 8 or Rega Planar 10).
