We are pleased to announce that all turntable models in the current Planar range will now come factory fitted with the latest Rega Advanced EBLT drive belt as standard. Originally reserved for our top of the range models, Rega has invested heavily in new tooling and R&D to enable us to manufacture larger quantities. The good news is that this new Advanced EBLT drive belt is now available for purchase as an upgrade to the previous drive belt from any Rega dealer.
Each belt is moulded on our high-precision custom tooling using a unique secret blend. Once moulded, the belts are then cryogenically frozen and barreled to remove any excess burrs to create a perfect roundness of the cross section, which is critical for precise speed and stability. Under normal use and conditions, the service life of the EBLT drive belt is 50% longer than the previous model.
Below you can see a direct comparison taken from our customised test software. You can compare the old belt (top) with the latest EBLT reference belt (bottom). We have used the same Planar 1 turntable. The only part that has changed is the drive belt. You can clearly see a noticeable reduction in the Wow / Flutter weighted peak measurements produced by the increased accuracy and roundness of the cross section of the EBLT belt. The standard belt measures 0.253% / the advanced EBLT measures 0.162% and the reference EBLT measures 0.075%.
