MUSICAL FIDELITY M6X TT: Design and Precision in Sound

The M6xTT follows the design principles of the iconic M1, seamlessly integrating into the prestigious M6 lineup.

Design and Philosophy

The original M1 concept was developed by Antony Michaelson, founder of Musical Fidelity, in collaboration with Heinz Lichtenegger, who was its distributor at the time and is now the brand’s owner. From the beginning, aesthetics and construction were essential, ensuring that the design complemented mechanically sophisticated amplifiers. The key to this design lies in the combination of inert mass from metal alloys with non-resonant acrylic, ensuring exceptional stability. Additionally, its innovative dual-layer chassis effectively isolates the motor from the tonearm and platter.

Following the release of the M8xTT, the M6xTT emerges as a more accessible version while maintaining the essence of high-fidelity engineering.

Tonearm: Precision and Adjustability

The M6xTT features a 9-inch tonearm that shares the same design as the M8xTT, but with a shorter tube and an aerodynamically optimized headshell. It includes a direct 5P DIN output and is engineered with an ultra-low resonance structure, thanks to its transparent acrylic bearing ring and tapered aluminum tube.

Its construction allows for full VTA (Vertical Tracking Angle) and azimuth adjustments, ensuring perfect alignment with the stylus. Additionally, it includes two TPE-damped counterweights, minimizing unwanted vibrations.

Motor and Platter: Control and Stability

The M6xTT motor is strategically placed on a special foam base, positioned within the lower acrylic plinth to completely isolate it from the tonearm and platter. It incorporates electronic speed control, allowing effortless switching between 33 and 45 RPM.

Following the advanced technology of the M8xTT, the M6xTT includes a sophisticated speed control system powered by a precision DC generator. This ensures that both frequency and voltage are generated from scratch within the device’s electronics, independent of power grid quality. As a result, playback speed remains consistent and precise, free from fluctuations.

The motor drives the platter via a one-piece belt, manufactured without glue to avoid imperfections. The 6.6 kg platter is made of aluminum and damped with TPE, ensuring exceptional stability and reducing resonance.

Damped Feet: Isolation and Adjustability

The M6xTT is equipped with four aluminum feet, each featuring TPE damping and magnetic support. These feet connect the two acrylic plinths, separated by Teflon spacers, enhancing isolation from external vibrations.

For precise leveling, the turntable’s height can be adjusted by rotating the knurled center section of each foot.

Included Accessories

Inside the M6xTT package, you’ll find everything needed for an optimized listening experience:

Aluminum record stabilizer, improving vinyl adherence and optimizing stylus tracking.

Leather mat, minimizing static and reducing background noise for improved sound quality.
