E.A.T. Forte S: The “Smaller” Brother that Redefines Grandeur
Following the success of the monumental Forte, European Audio Team (E.A.T.) introduces its “compact” version: the Forte S. The “S” stands for small, although in reality this turntable remains a true reference-class piece of engineering—where “small” is little more than a playful understatement compared to its imposing dimensions, mass, and performance.
Massive, Silent Platter
The Forte S features a platter slightly smaller than the original Forte, reducing its diameter from 40 cm to 36 cm and its weight from 20 kg to 15 kg. Even so, it still exceeds the industry standard 30 cm platter, delivering far greater rotational inertia and, consequently, outstanding speed stability.
The platter is internally damped with Sorbothane, eliminating internal resonances. Its matte black exterior coating, made from recycled vinyl, renders it completely silent and acoustically aligned with the record itself.
The result is an extremely inert rotational platform, free from coloration and with absolute control over low frequencies.
Inverted Bearing with Magnetic Suspension
The inverted bearing rests on a ceramic ball and Teflon base, ensuring smooth, stable rotation. The immense platter mass is partially relieved by two neodymium magnets that bear much of the load, reducing bearing pressure and extending service life.
This solution minimizes rumble and ensures stable rotation, even during extended listening sessions.
Dual AC Motor with Electronic Control
The Forte S uses two synchronous AC motors, symmetrically placed on the right side of the chassis, allowing equal belt lengths across both pulleys for perfectly balanced drive.
Electronic speed control is straightforward thanks to a panel with three main buttons:
33.3 rpm
45.1 rpm
Power On/Off
This ensures intuitive, practical handling, perfectly in line with its reference-grade nature yet user-friendly in daily operation.
Sub-Chassis with Magnetic Feet
The Forte S shares the mass-loading philosophy of its larger sibling. The entire assembly rests on four height-adjustable magnetic feet, acting as a genuine decoupled sub-chassis.
These feet achieve an extremely low resonance frequency, effectively isolating the turntable from external vibrations.
The resulting stability translates into a spacious, three-dimensional, distortion-free soundstage.
Aesthetic and Finishes
With a design that is both solid and elegant, the Forte S is available in two luxurious finishes:
High-gloss Piano Black – timeless and elegant
High-gloss Makassar Ebony – sophisticated and exclusive
Its presence is as visually striking as its sound, making it the centerpiece of any true high-end audio system.
