REGA Planar 6. Manual turntable with arm RB330
The Planar 6 builds on the great success of the RP8 and RP10 turntables. It is the first new turntable from Rega to be constructed with a plinth of ultra-lightweight Tancast 8 polyurethane foam (a material developed for the aerospace industry). This material is sandwiched between a new HPL (High Pressure Laminate). The HPL is exceptionally thin yet extremely rigid and comes in a stunning matt polaris grey colour with a high gloss black polymer edge finish.
The Planar 6 now benefits from a one-piece, machined aluminium sub-plate, a new hand-tuned 24v motor combined with its own NEO power supply and a custom drive pulley fitted with our standard drive.
The Neo PSU uses the RP10 DSP (digital signal processing) generator built on a high stability crystal. The DSP generator will split the precise signal from the crystal at the exact frequency required to rotate the platter at the selected speed. The DSP generator will also produce a near perfect sine waveform to drive the motor. This, together with an efficient amplifier, generates a balanced 24v AC signal of less than 0.15% distortion, which is unaffected by any change in power line/line conditions and voltage. This drives the turntables anti-vibration circuitry, which is located underneath the platter.
