Maurizio Brunod. Svartisen
180g Pure Vinyl | Limited Edition of 350 Copies
Svartisen was born 14 years ago during Maurizio Brunod’s tour across Norway. Deeply inspired by the breathtaking Nordic landscapes and his collaboration with local musicians at the Smelte Digelen Jazz Festival, the guitarist envisioned an intimate and evocative project featuring original compositions — some written specifically for the occasion — performed on classical and electric guitar.
A World-Class International Ensemble
The album features prominent musicians from the Scandinavian and international jazz scenes:
Bjorn Alterhaug – Double Bass
Ivan Antonsen – Piano
Paolo Vinaccia – Percussion
With special guest: John Surman – Saxophone
(An iconic figure of ECM Records and a jazz legend)
Recorded at the Iconic Rainbow Studio in Oslo
Svartisen was recorded at the legendary Rainbow Studio in Oslo, under the direction of Jan Erik Kongshaug, one of the most influential sound engineers in jazz history and the man behind the signature ECM sound.
This project marked a pivotal moment in Brunod’s career, paving the way for future collaborations with jazz greats such as Enrico Rava, and firmly establishing his presence on the international jazz scene.
Remastered Audiophile Edition on Vinyl
Originally released exclusively on CD, Svartisen is now available for the first time on 180g pure vinyl, lovingly remastered in analog by Walter Bertolo (Digital Sound). This limited edition of 350 individually numbered copies is a true collector’s item, essential for fans of contemporary jazz and high-fidelity sound.
