AUDIOQUEST Type 5. Pair of high quality speaker connection cables with banana plug.
Type 4 speaker cable was first introduced around 1983. It wasn't the prettiest cable, but the performance advantage of its polypropylene insulation was dramatic and much appreciated. Several evolutionary steps later, the current version of the Type 4 was introduced in 1995 - a design whose foundation is so well balanced that it hasn't changed since - and remains unchanged. Type 5 low distortion, low noise speaker cable is essentially Type 4 with better metal, and with conductors that are slightly further apart, reducing interaction between adjacent conductors by 35%.

Solid Long Grain Copper (LGC) Conductors :
A fine combination of perfect grain free surface copper conductors + acoustic signal conductors, long grain copper plud, allow for a smooth and natural "lack of character". Solid conductors eliminate harshness and confusion due to reduced strand interaction.
Carbon loading and noise dissipation controlled by steering.
Direction-controlled, carbon-loaded conductors provide effective noise dissipation, minimizing noise modulation and amplifier distortion.
Star-Square Geometry:
The relationship between the conductors defines the most basic electrical values of a cable (capacitance and inductance). However, even when those variables are kept in reasonable balance, the relationship between the conductors can be varied in ways that greatly affect the sound. Type 5 star-square construction allows for significantly better dynamic contrast and data intelligibility than if the same conductors are run in parallel.
Gold or Silver Terminations -
AudioQuest offers a wide range of high-quality connectors that allow the Type 5 to be securely connected to any type of equipment. The quality is in the low distortion sound, not necessarily the eyeball effect. AQ terminations are gold or silver with a matte appearance because these metals are plated directly onto the connector. There is no shiny, hard-sounding nickel layer underneath. The AQ's spade plugs are smooth because the best metal is smooth, making for a higher quality connection. For parts requiring a banana or BFA connector the AQ BFA/Banana provides unprecedented performance over conventional brass versions.
