The Irish Setter is a distant ancestor of the Spanish Pointer and is actually a mix of the English Setter, the Gordon Setter, and the Irish Water Spaniel. Irish Setters are known for their friendly, fun-loving, and outgoing temperament. These dogs have a natural love of exploration and enjoy a good game of search above all else. This trait undoubtedly dates back to the breeding of the Irish Setter to be useful to hunters on foot. Irish Setters' intelligence and naturally calm and friendly demeanor make them superbly suited as therapy or support dogs.
SOLID 0.5% SILVER CONDUCTORS: Solid conductors eliminate distortion from strand interaction and reduce shaking. Solid silver conductors are excellent for very high frequency applications. These signals, being of such high frequency, travel almost exclusively on the surface of the conductor. As the surface is made of high-purity silver, the performance is very similar to that of a solid silver wire, but its price is much closer to that of a solid copper wire. This is an incredibly cost effective way to make very high quality subwoofer cables.
FOAMED POLYETHYLENE INSULATION: Any solid material adjacent to a conductor is actually part of an imperfect circuit. The insulation of the cables and the materials of the circuit boards absorb energy (loss). Some of this energy is stored and then released as distortion. Irish Red uses air filled foamed polyethylene insulation on both conductors because air absorbs almost no energy and polyethylene is low loss and has a benign distortion profile. Thanks to all the air in Foamed-PE, it causes much less of the blurring effect common to other materials.
METALLIZER NOISE DISPERSION SYSTEM (NDS): 100% shield coverage is easy. Preventing captured RF interference from modulating the equipment ground reference requires the AQ Noise Dissipation System. The Noise Dissipation System prevents a significant amount of RFI from reaching the equipment ground plane.
SEMIMETRIC COAX GEOMETRY: The identical + and - conductors prevent the shield from being used as the lower audio conductor.
GOLD-PLATED COLD-SOLDERED PLUGS: This plug design allows for a solder-free connection, which is a common source of distortion. Because ground hulls are stamped rather than machined, the metal can be chosen for low distortion rather than machined.
GROUNDING: Sometimes there is a hum problem unless the subwoofer and AV receiver (or surround sound processor) are linked together using a separate cable. If your system has a hum problem, try connecting the small tails of the spade plugs to the metal chassis of the subwoofer amplifier and to the chassis of the sending component. Normally, this extra cable will not be necessary.
