The FLS 20 is Audia's new reference CD / SACD player, the fruit of many years of experience in this field and of a complete overhaul of digital playback, validated by numerous listening sessions. The choice of top loading with magnetic disc through a sliding flap giving access to a D&M mechanism with disc proved to be the most appropriate. This mechanism is housed in a chassis designed to eliminate virtually all internal and external vibrations. Controlling vibrations, which are the main enemy of disc players, allows the information to be accurately extracted and optimally processed for the highest quality signal. The chassis is solidly constructed and supported by a thick aluminium front panel.
The conversion section uses two 32-bit Sabre ES9038PRO chips, one per channel in mono mode. They are synchronised by an ultra-low noise Crystek CCHD-950 clock. The digital circuits are powered by 10 ultra-low noise secondary power supplies.
The analogue output stage follows the Audia tradition: pure symmetrical, class A, with discrete components and current feedback. It is powered by 4 low-noise voltage regulators. Balanced and unbalanced analogue outputs are available.
The device is powered by three independent toroidal transformers: 80 VA for the analogue section, 85 VA for the digital section and 15 VA for the control logic section.
The digital input connections are flexible thanks to the 4 inputs: one Toslink optical, one S/PDIF on RCA, one AES/EBU on XLR and one USB. There are also 4 digital outputs: one Toslink optical, one S/PDIF on RCA, one AES/EBU on XLR and one I2S on HDMI.
