The DSP-05EX USB DAC / Network Music Player consists of two components, a transport and a DAC. The connection between the transport and the DAC is called "ZERO LINK".
Both components, the transport and the DAC, are housed in robust aluminium chassis and have no internal clock. This exceptional network music player is designed to deliver exceptional sound quality. Before each performance, you experience almost ominous silence and total stillness, conveying natural tones and sound fields. It doesn't add or subtract. We provide the best tools for listening to music.
ZERO LINK
This feature eliminates any asynchronous functions that may affect the D/A conversion from the DAC. All (asynchronous) transmission packets over LAN and USB are handled by the transport, and the music data is transferred to the DAC in sync with the D/A conversion clock. This guarantees ultimate data transmission for the DAC.
Roon Ready
The DSP-05EX is a Roon Ready compatible device. You can enjoy Roon with the DSP-05EX. In addition, it can be used as a UPnP / DLNA network player and also as a USB DAC.
SFP for LAN
The LAN input is not a conventional RJ-45 connector, but a SFP. You can select various types of SFP modules for your LAN environment. Using a fibre optic SFP module, the DSP-05EX can be connected via fibre optic LAN, which eliminates the electrical connection to a noisy computer network. A copper LAN cable can also be used with an RJ-45 type SFP module.
ES9038Pro for D/A conversion
Two ES9038Pro chips, one for the left and one for the right channel, are used for D/A conversion. The ESS DAC no longer relies on internal jitter elimination, operating in perfect synchronisation with the input signal. A high-fidelity clock and a scrupulously organised clock wiring architecture guarantee perfectly synchronised, jitter-free audio.
External clock
The unit has no internal clock generator and is powered by an external 10MHz input. The DSP-05EX includes an external clock generator (TCXO) with exceptional low phase noise (120dBc/Hz at 10Hz). For even higher fidelity, the PMC series offers a perfect match for the DSP-05EX.
Noise suppression
A multi-layer circuit board with a wide top/bottom ground plane is used to place most of the digital signals in the middle layers. Heavy shielding minimises noise. Clock signals are arranged in a balanced way to avoid noise emissions.
Transmit Service
The DSP-05EX supports TIDAL, Qobuz and Amazon streaming services. You can access these services via the dedicated Taktina control app, available free of charge for iOS and Android.
Supported formats
The DSP-05EX supports a wide range of formats, including PCM from 44.1kHz to 768kHz in 16/24/32-bit (fixed/floating) in formats such as AIFF, WAV, FLAC and ALAC. It also supports DSD in 1-bit dsf and diff formats with resolutions from DSD64 to DSD512 (2.8MHz - 22.5MHz). Supports gapless playback in all formats.
Software updates
The digital controller is driven by a microcomputer and a DSP. Network-based software updates allow your device to always enjoy the latest features and functionality, meaning our products continue to evolve even after purchase.
