REGA Kyte. 2-way monitor speakers. Price per pair
The new speakers from Rega.
Immerse yourself in the stunningly natural sound of the Kyte speaker system. Meticulously engineered to deliver true Rega sound at an affordable price. Using our proprietary ZRR high frequency transducer unit and a pair of handmade Rega MX-125 mid and bass transducers, this compact monitor type speaker is designed to complement any hi-fi audio system.
Experience the true sound of Rega components with the new Kyte speaker system. Kyte speakers are meticulously hand-assembled at the factory using our uniquely designed phenolic resin enclosure.
Internally, they feature ceramic plates and carefully designed cross bracing to make the enclosure extremely rigid. This prevents unwanted resonances from interfering with the precise output of the driver units and directly improves both the dynamics and bass performance of the speaker.
Kyte loudspeakers are easy to position and are supplied with an optional stand pedestal to allow for various positions, giving the user greater flexibility in placement.
Rega fans will know that we have always questioned the marketing and science around turntables. Experiments and research have allowed us to debunk commonly held beliefs and use real engineering to produce unrivalled sound quality at reasonable prices. However, the loudspeaker market is very different because there is a valid scientific and engineering discipline that in turn has created hundreds of competitors in the loudspeaker market.
The success of many loudspeakers depends on powerful marketing, dazzling advertising budgets (of which Rega spends zero) and a financial incentive for retailers. The funds that most loudspeaker companies would spend on marketing, Rega has invested all of it in research and development to achieve totally unique enclosure constructions and our own high frequency transducer unit and mid/bass transducer (incorporating a four-layer copper voice coil). We even manufacture and wind our frequency divider filter components in-house.
So why make the enclosure from a phenolic resin composite? Historically, the accepted perception of a loudspeaker was a rectangular-shaped wood-veneered enclosure to complement wooden home furnishings.
The market has always demanded that speakers be furniture and, since the 1990s, European manufacturers were left with the option of Far Eastern manufacturing or inflated prices for home-made wooden cabinets. However, in recent times the world has changed perceptions of style and there has been a wholesale investment in modern moulding shapes and the use of functional materials.
Injection moulded plastic speaker enclosures are not new, but flexible moulded plastic has been reserved for the world of portable devices or small desktop speakers where convenience and portability were a priority over sonic performance.
This more recent national acceptance of functional non-wooden enclosure forms has allowed Rega to achieve a long-term dream.
We have made a huge investment in injection moulding rigid thermosetting phenolic resin and collaborated with a British company to achieve this. The natural stiffness of phenolic resin is a great advantage that has been further enhanced with ceramic plates and a complex internal cross-bracing structure.
These unique enclosure constructions have been achieved at a third of the price of other quality British-made loudspeakers.
