An exceptional stereophonic power amplifier with 100% tube circuit topology that can be considered as the logical continuation of the sensational Reference 160M monophonic model, also based entirely on vacuum tubes, launched in 2018 and considered by the global specialized critics as one of the most musical achievements of its kind ever created. Endowed with the unmistakable aesthetics of the Reference 160M, in which the revolutionary GhostMeters level indicators exclusively from Audio Research stand out, the Reference 160S incorporates a total of eight KT150 power tubes, as well as an automatic polarization circuit developed by the legendary Minnesota signature and the ability to operate in Triode and Ultralinear modes. To this must be added a four-layer printed circuit board and a practical scheme for monitoring the status of the output valves, to which is added connectivity with balanced inputs via XLR connectors and unbalanced via RCA connectors. Thanks to this, the Reference 160S distills the striking combination of resolution, dynamic impact, musical purity and finesse of the Reference 160M but using a single chassis to facilitate its access to a greater number of fans.
