KRELL Illusion II. Stereo pre-amplifier

Designed to perfectly complement Krell's state-of-the-art monophonic and stereo power stages, the Illusion II is a stereo preamplifier that is the ultimate expression of the pursuit of sound truth that has characterized the legendary American firm since its foundation. Simplified version - because it uses a single chassis instead of two - of the Illusion reference stereo preamplifier, the Illusion II is a very high performance stereo preamplifier that shares the same concepts of aesthetic and electronic design of its older brother. Thus, the circuit topology is also double monophonic and fully balanced operating in the "Current Mode" of Krell, the sections corresponding to each channel being fed by an independent control scheme that starts from a transformer of 95 VA and a bank of capacitors of 40,000 uF. Illusion II also does not resort to negative feedback, while its bandwidth of more than 1 MHz allows you to express the harmonic and spatial contrasts of music with exceptional realism. On the other hand, it has a volume control based on a resistance ladder balanced and designed not to interfere neither in the bandwidth nor in the response to the transients. As a differentiating element with respect to its older brother, Illusion II also provides the possibility of managing digital sources thanks to a module specifically designed for it that supports signals of up to 24 bits / 192 kHz from a maximum of 5 sources (1 coaxial Professional AES / EBU, 2 coaxial S / PDIF and 2 optical EIAJ-TosLink). Connectivity, very complete, consists of balanced and unbalanced analog, CAST and control.
