For more than 50 years, Ortofon has designed and manufactured moving magnet capsules. Together with our renowned moving coil cartridges, Moving Magnet models have earned a good reputation among music lovers and Hi-Fi enthusiasts around the world.

The new Ortofon OM 5 series comprises three basic spare parts: OM 5S, OM 5E and Super OM 5E.

- The series is the range of the lowest mass moving magnet capsules offered by Ortofon.

- The bodies of the OM modules have been designed to facilitate mounting and alignment on the upper and lower mounting heads.

- The OM 5 series offers excellent compatibility when used in a variety of playback systems and with a wide variety of phono preamps.

The Super OM 5E has major improvements:

1. Through computer simulations it has been possible to define the natural pivot point of the system with unprecedented precision, while achieving an optimal oscillation balance. The result: better linearity, greater channel spacing, and reduced distortion.

2. OM Super cartridge models have split-pole PINs that reduce magnetic losses at the high end. This technology broadens the frequency range and improves phase linearity.

3. 3. The body of the OM Super 5 capsule is made of a Noryl compound (plastic and glass) that guarantees high rigidity and the absence of resonances.

4. Optimal sound adjustment and reproduction.

If your weapon has a standard helmet or capsule mount, then take the next step in optimal sound reproduction with OMs. A glance at any of these cartridges will reveal Ortofon's answer to the perfect match for the weapon. Ingeniously tucked into the top of the mounting bracket is a small detachable weight plate.

If your equipment is standard equipment, just leave the weight plate. If your equipment is one of the low-mass types, just remove the weight. The mass of your OM capsule is now just 2.5g.

Super OM 5E features an elliptical stylus that provides balanced, distortion-free playback. Elliptical diamonds are able to follow groove oscillations more precisely than spherical diamonds due to their contoured shape. This results in better tracking and less distortion.

Types of probes and interchangeability.

The OM 5 has a spherical diamond. Spherical diamonds are the simplest and most robust. The OM 5E and Super OM 5E feature an Elliptical diamond.

In the development of OM cartridges, one of the main goals was to provide the music lover with the opportunity to optimize sound reproduction without having to replace the entire cartridge. Rather than being intended solely for replacement after wear or damage, the OM 5 series enables sound enhancement simply by updating the stylus.

Depending on your preferences, the OM 5 series styli can be easily interchanged and include: 3E, 5E, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 78 and D 25 M needles.
