E.A.T. E-Flat: The Turntable with the Revolutionary Flat Tonearm
The E-Flat from European Audio Team (E.A.T.) is a high-end turntable that introduces a truly innovative element into the analog world: a flat carbon fiber tonearm. While this concept has been explored in the past, no previous solution achieved the rigidity and stability required. Thanks to advances in composite materials, EAT has created a tonearm that combines the practical and aesthetic advantages of a flat geometry with outstanding stiffness and resonance control.
The Flat Tonearm: Rigidity, Precision, and Versatility
The E-Flat 10-inch tonearm is ultra-light and ultra-rigid. Its unipivot design is supported by a Sorbothane-damped decoupled counterweight, eliminating unwanted vibrations and ensuring clean, silent playback.
The unipivot system is precisely balanced and reinforced by two metal guide bars, eliminating the usual drawbacks of low-grade unipivot designs.
The carbon fiber tube can be user-replaced, with lighter or heavier versions available to optimize resonance frequency depending on the cartridge in use.
It also features adjustable anti-skating and a damped cueing lever, providing full control during everyday operation.
This innovative flat tonearm not only improves rigidity and responsiveness, but also simplifies leveling and adjustment, offering clearer visibility and a perfect aesthetic integration with the turntable chassis.
Chassis & Platter: Absolute Vibration Control
The E-Flat follows EAT’s mass-loading philosophy combined with intelligent decoupling, inherited from the reference-level Forte models.
It employs a twin-motor system in a “24-pole virtual motor” configuration, driving a rubber anti-static belt.
The inner sub-platter rotates on a high-precision bronze bearing, while the main platter rests on an inverted bearing with ceramic ball and Teflon coating, ensuring smooth and silent operation.
The oversized 340 mm platter, weighing 6.9 kg, is filled with Sorbothane to absorb resonances. The platter mat is made of recycled vinyl, providing an ideal acoustic interface with records.
The tonearm base, bearing housing, and magnetic feet are also Sorbothane-damped, optimizing energy absorption and preventing external contamination.
