PRO-JECT The Classic Evo SP

Taking as its starting point the widely awarded The Classic model, The Classic Evo is an elegant and sophisticated turntable that benefits from some of the conceptual and construction elements of the elite model 175 Vienna Philharmonic Recordplayer or 175 VPO, being the most significant of all. them the improvements incorporated in the component that supports the platter, that is, the “sub-platter”, and the chassis, improvements that have resulted in performance rarely seen in this price category. Delving a little deeper into the technical details of the new Pro-Ject, let's first point out the construction of the platter, which combines a special aluminum alloy with thermoplastic elastomer elements strategically arranged inside it to optimize behavior against resonances. To this must be added an extremely precise machining thanks to a diamond cut, while the construction of the main turning system is very similar to that of the aforementioned 175 VPO. This brings us to the aforementioned “sub-platter”, also made of diamond-cut aluminum alloy and whose extreme precision guarantees very good isolation between the noise generated by the turning system and the platter itself. To all this we must add an electronic speed change that allows the user to go from 33 to 45 rpm by simply pressing a button. Another radically new element of The Classic Evo is the tonearm, the result of 25 years of experience in mechanical engineering. Thus, the tube is made of a carbon and aluminum sandwich structure, with carbon providing stiffness and speed of response and aluminum improving damping.
