It is evident throughout contemporary culture that modern and classic designs are working, more than ever before, in harmony. Countless product categories like cars, watches, and furniture are embracing the ever-popular retro trend.

The reasoning behind this love of 'retro' is its inherent blend of classic beauty, combined with sheer mechanical precision, high quality components and superior performance.

Pro-ject products gave analog music a new lease of life in the 1990s; our products have successfully proven that you can listen to music better than any contemporary digital medium, and that it doesn't have to cost the earth.

However, now with the Xtension, we at Pro-Ject intend to bring back a classic analog concept from the 1980s and combine it with our advanced contemporary technologies. After eighteen years of making affordable turntables for analog lovers, we are pleased to announce that our first deck is not subscribed to budget constraints; and boy is it.

The acclaimed 6perspeX has proven to be the fantastic result of using magnets to isolate the subframe. Therefore, for the Xtension this technology has been re-developed to use new magnetic feet, which almost completely decouple the main socket. Combine that with the turntable's heavy 25kg total mass and the listener will benefit from minimal base resonance. This is a unique combination of 'mass loading' and 'floating turntable' design principles.

According to these principles, the disk is made of metal due to its greater mass than acrylic. However, the old standard adoption of pure metal has been abandoned due to its highly resonant tendencies. Instead, we have found a perfect alloy that we have moistened on the inside with Sorbothane®. Taking this base, we've glued recycled vinyl records to the top (acting as a perfect rug) and baked this 'sandwich' before precisely balancing it. The final product benefits from a heavy, resonance-free platter.

Another consideration was the amount of energy the base of the forearm would have to take from the movement of the arm and cartridge. These energies must be controlled, just like the motor and bearing ones (they must be kept away from the weapons to avoid interference). Therefore, the Xtension's teardrop base also benefits from "high mass" technologies, and is isolated from the main plate by a Sorbothane® sheet. But the most important thing is that this board can still incorporate the adoption of different weapons.

Just as we originally proposed with this turntable, in keeping with its "classic" spirit, the Xtension comes with a beautiful adjustable hinged dust cover, as well as several high-gloss lacquer finish options. Ultimately, the Xtension offers a timeless classic and exclusive analog experience.

Xtension is available in high-gloss lacquer finishes: mahogany, piano and olive.

Available in the following options:

- Mounted Pro-Ject 12cc Evolution toner.

- Mounted on Ortofon RS-309D.

Feet with magnetic support.

With two magnets located in the feet, the turntable is practically floating. The studs on the feet are only used to keep them centered. Thanks to this unique feature, the turntable is perfectly decoupled from the surface on which it is placed.
